Role of the District Missionary

The District Missionary must have come through the ranks as a Licensed Evangelist Missionary, recommended by the District Superintendent, appointed by the Jurisdictional Supervisor, and approved by the Jurisdictional Bishop. She is the leader of women on the District Level — the extension of the Jurisdictional Supervisor — and gives close attention to women's ministry.

She is the first person in the Jurisdictional Supervisor's cabinet, working closely with the Supervisor and communicating the program and vision of the Supervisor to the members of the District.

The District Missionary should be an organizer and a peacemaker with concern for the program of the total church, and must visit churches in her District at least twice per year.

Licensing & Credentials

Transferring COGIC Female Credential Holders

Missionaries transferring from another COGIC jurisdiction must make official Transfer of Church/Jurisdiction on ARC, then submit a picture copy along with a copy of her Missionary License and current credential card to SupvGLT@WSJWomen.org. After verification, the Supervisor will authorize documentation onto the Washington State Jurisdiction Missionary Roster.

Licensing of Female Holders of Other Credentials

A refresher of COGIC doctrine, procedures, and administration is required. Follow the Directives for Recommending a Candidate for Licensing — with 6 months at the present home church under pastoral observation in place of the 2-year observation.

Maintaining Credentials

Licensed Missionaries must pay International Reports on time and consistently. Reports are due from Missionary to District Missionary by the 1st Saturday in February, and from District Missionary to the Executive Secretary by 9:00 AM on the 2nd Saturday of February.

WSJW District Missionary Orientation

Mandatory training for WSJW District Missionary Candidates (joint with all WSJW Missionary Candidates). The Orientation meets on Zoom with the Supervisor and the Dean on the 1st Saturday in May, immediately followed by the Training Academy.
